WASHINGTON, D.C. / NEW ORLEANS – Van Ness Feldman is pleased to announce that Kea Sherman has rejoined the firm as Senior Counsel, further strengthening the firm’s nationally recognized law and policy capabilities in Louisiana and across the Gulf Region.
Sherman returns to Van Ness Feldman after serving as Vice President of Economic Development and Customer Service at Entergy New Orleans. With her return to Van Ness Feldman, she will continue her professional focus on the intersection of law, public policy and economic development. Based in New Orleans, she will work closely with the firm’s Louisiana team, including Lauren Jardell and former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, advising clients on legal, policy, legislative, and strategic matters throughout Louisiana and the broader Gulf Region.
“We could not be more pleased to welcome Kea back to Van Ness Feldman,” said Co-Chair Tadas Kisielius. “Kea brings tremendous energy to everything she does, along with a deep understanding of Louisiana, strong relationships throughout the region, and an ability to bring people together around complex issues. We are excited about what her return means for our clients and our growing presence in the Gulf.”
Sherman brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by experience in law, government relations, public affairs, economic development, and community leadership. Her work has included matters involving energy and natural resources, defense, aerospace, health sciences, public infrastructure, ports, waterways, maritime interests, economic development, and other issues central to Louisiana and the Gulf Coast economy.
In her prior work for Van Ness Feldman, Sherman advised clients on government relations and public policy matters, developing advocacy strategies and building relationships with policymakers, government officials, industry stakeholders, and community leaders. Licensed to practice law in Louisiana and the District of Columbia, Kea brings over two decades of experience advising businesses and organizations on complex transactional and general counsel matters, as well as representing clients in civil litigation. Sherman has also held numerous civic and community leadership positions. She was appointed by the New Orleans City Council to the Industrial Development Board of the City of New Orleans, where she was elected Vice President by her fellow commissioners, and was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards to the Louisiana Environmental Education Commission. Most recently, she was appointed to serve on Mayor Helena Moreno’s transition team, which was tasked with making policy recommendations and strategic planning for the new administration. She also serves on the Executive Committee of Clover, formerly Kingsley House, where she serves as immediate Past President.
“I’m delighted to return to Van Ness Feldman and to build on the work I began with the Honorable Mary Landrieu and the broader VNF team,” said Sherman. “My time in the utility industry deepened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the utility and energy sectors.
I’m excited to bring that perspective back to VNF and continue working on issues that are important to Louisiana and communities throughout the Gulf Region.”
Sherman’s return reflects Van Ness Feldman’s continued investment in its Louisiana and Gulf Region presence and in the firm’s ability to help clients navigate the increasingly interconnected legal, policy, regulatory, and business issues shaping the region.
