Tanya is an associate in our Seattle office where she represents public and private clients in environmental, natural resources, and water law matters. Her practice focuses on helping clients navigate complex federal and state regulatory frameworks and supporting development, infrastructure projects, and resource management. Tanya regularly assists clients with permitting, compliance, and administrative proceedings arising under environmental and natural resources laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Washington water code requirements.  

In addition to her private practice, as a first-generation Latina lawyer, Tanya is committed to giving back to her community in a variety of ways including providing pro bono services for the QLaw Foundation of Washington and helping underserved communities through environmental advocacy. In law school, she was a student clinician with the Regulatory Environmental Law and Policy Clinic at the University of Washington School of Law and was an extern for Chief Justice Steven Gonzáles at the Washington State Supreme Court. 

  • Experience
    • Assisted with regulatory, land use, and environmental permitting matters associated with the operation of a liquefied petroleum gas export terminal in Washington, including support for administrative hearing proceedings, preparation of written submissions, coordination with technical experts, and analysis of state and local compliance issues.  
    • Assists public and private clients participating in water rights adjudication in Whatcom County, supporting the development of water right claims, evidentiary submissions, and legal research. 
    • Assisted in amicus briefing before the Washington Supreme Court concerning the interpretation of Washington water rights statutes and the Department of Ecology's authority to enforce water code violations, involving issues of statewide significance for public and private water utilities.
