Mekkah is in the firm’s Energy Regulatory practice where she assists electric utilities, renewable energy companies, and natural gas pipeline companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal agencies.

Prior to joining the firm, she held several positions in law school, including Vice President of the Student Bar Association, Chief Policy Officer and National Attorney General for the National Black Law Students Association, Legal Intern for the YWCA Greater Baton Rouge, and a Student Clinician for the Louisiana Parole Project where her representation contributed to a gubernatorial pardon. In addition to being a summer associate at VNF, Mekkah was a Law Clerk for the Louisiana Department of Justice.

In her spare time, Mekkah enjoys pouring back into her community through mentorship, advocacy, volunteering, and using her time and resources to uplift and empower those around her.
