As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to propose a rule regulating carbon dioxide emissions from new power plants, industry advocates are wary of a standard that would neglect the EPA's practice of creating New Source Performance Standards specific to fuel types. Kyle Danish was quoted in E&E Daily saying that he expected EPA to propose separate standards for different fuels, "so this standard will not essentially make any kind of new coal-fired power plant impossible absent carbon capture and storage." Mr. Danish added, "I think that's the nub of the issue there. I think people are waiting to see how EPA handles that."
