Van Ness Feldman's Judy Sullivan Receives NAHC's 2010 Jerry Voorhis Award

September 30, 2010

Van Ness Feldman is pleased to announce that Judy Sullivan has been named as the recipient of the 2010 Jerry Voorhis Memorial Award by the National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC).  The award, which commemorates the legacy of the late Congressman Jerry Voorhis – a leading figure in the cooperative movement who also served as NAHC’s first president – is the highest and most prestigious honor conferred by the organization.

In addition to her role as Senior Policy Specialist at Van Ness Feldman, Ms. Sullivan serves as a consultant to NAHC as its Director of Government Relations.  She has represented the organization and the cooperative community in several capacities for over twenty years.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this year’s Voorhis Award because I know many of the fine and dedicated cooperators who received this award before me – and I am truly humbled now to be considered worthy to walk in their footsteps,” said Ms. Sullivan as she accepted the award at NAHC’s 50th Anniversary Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

In presenting the award, NAHC Government Relations Chair Mary Ann Rothman said “Judy’s leadership and professionalism have allowed our association to establish a serious and respected presence in Washington.  She has devised strategies to educate and inform Members of Congress about the benefits of cooperative housing as a model form of home ownership.  She truly embodies everything this award stands for, and we are pleased to honor her for her lasting contributions to the cooperative mission.”
