The firm has represented a number of clients in ongoing administrative and judicial litigation concerning refund liability arising out of the California electricity crisis of 2000 and 2001. Most recently, the firm helped one client involved in the proceeding (Los Angeles Department of Water & Power - the nation’s largest government-owned electric utility), to successfully oppose a petition for certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court for a prior decision in the case by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
