May 22, 2018

Van Ness Feldman is pleased to announce that Melinda L. Meade Meyers has joined the firm’s Public Lands and Native Affairs practices.

Ms. Meade Meyers brings nearly a decade of experience working on issues related to national park concessions, wildlife and animal law, federal small business contracting, and litigation.  She has successfully advocated for clients before various courts and administrative agencies in matters involving the Endangered Species Act, Animal Welfare Act, Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, Concessions Management Improvement Act, and other natural resources statutes.  Ms. Meade Meyers also counsels Alaska Native corporations on federal small business government contracting and 8(a) Program small business development issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Meade Meyers was an associate in the D.C. office of an Alaska-based law firm, where she focused on wildlife and Alaska Native issues.

Before attending law school, Ms. Meade Meyers served as Director of Communications for the National Park Hospitality Association, a national organization representing U.S. national park concessioners, and the American Recreation Coalition, where she collaborated in the development and implementation of nationwide programs and initiatives promoting outdoor recreation industries.

“We are thrilled to have Melinda as part of our team. She brings a wealth of experience in representing a wide range of clients, including Alaska Native corporations, concessioners, public lands user groups, zoos and aquariums,” said Jonathan Simon, Co-Coordinator of the firm’s Land, Water and Natural Resources practice. “Her background and experience very much complement the firm’s Land, Water and Natural Resources and Native Affairs practices, and her addition to the firm provides exciting opportunities to enhance and broaden the services we provide to clients in these areas.”

Ms. Meade Meyers holds a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and a B.A. from Cornell University.  She can be reached at 202-298-1995 or mmeademeyers@vnf.com.
