EPA Publishes List of Pesticides For Use Against Coronavirus

March 6, 2020

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published on March 3, 2020 a list of registered pesticides for use against Novel Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19.  The list includes the EPA-issued pesticide registration number (EPA Reg. No.) which is helpful if you are seeking additional information about the pesticide.  EPA notes that searching by brand names may not be helpful.  EPA also notes that when purchasing a product for use against a specific pathogen, check the EPA Reg. No. versus the products included on this list.

In its publication announcing the list of pesticides for use against Coronavirus, EPA provides guidance on pesticide registration number nomenclature- how to identify the pesticide manufacturer and alternative brand names, if any.  This may be helpful in identifying which product you have, or would like to have.

EPA’s list contains approximately 85 registered pesticides.  Some are ready-to-use, others require dilution and some are manufactured as wipes.
