May 06, 2008

National Governors Association

Doubletree Hotel Overland Park, KS

At the National Governors Association's State Summit on Clean Power and Efficiency, state participants will learn about innovative policies and programs that can be used to diversify state energy portfolios and improve the efficiency of energy use in all sectors. The emphasis will be on practical approaches that states can implement in the near term. The issues that will be explored at the summit with national experts, energy suppliers, and other state policymakers, include:

  • The challenges and opportunities facing states and utilities as they attempt to increase the use of clean energy supplies;
  • How states, often in partnership with utilities, can implement effective energy efficiency programs, ensure system reliability and meet demand;
  • Financing strategies and utility rate incentives that can be used to encourage large-scale deployment of energy efficiency; and
  • The role for next generation coal and nuclear power in meeting future demand.

Van Ness Feldman's Ben Yamagata spoke on the "Outlook for Next Generation Coal and Nuclear" panel on May 7 from 11:15 AM-12:15 PM.
