Mona Tandon concentrates her practice on oil and product pipeline, natural gas, and electric utility regulation.  This encompasses all aspects of ratemaking and regulatory rate litigation, including helping companies submit rate filings, working with witnesses, and preparing testimony.  Ms. Tandon also assists residential and commercial appliance manufacturers navigate federal and state energy efficiency regulations and the ENERGY STAR program by helping them request waiver from and changes to energy efficiency standards to fit unique circumstances and accommodate advanced technologies, resolve energy efficiency enforcement actions, and develop legislative advocacy strategies and policy recommendations.  In addition, Ms. Tandon advises clients on federal and state legislative issues regarding energy and environmental development and general corporate matters.  She represents clients on transactional and regulatory matters in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Professional Background

Prior to joining Van Ness Feldman, Ms. Tandon served as an intern at eLaw.com, where she worked with the marketing department and assisted in-house counsel with legal issues concerning practicing law on the Internet.  She also served as an assistant analyst with DynMeridian, an international arms control agency, where she supported the Navy Arms Control Directorate and the U.S. Army Biological Arms Control Treaty Office.  As a legal intern for The Thomas Jefferson Center, a First Amendment rights law firm, Ms. Tandon researched First Amendment cases for amicus briefs.  Ms. Tandon served as a criminal investigator at the Public Defenders Service of the District of Columbia, aiding attorneys in investigating criminal cases and in trial preparation.
