Marisa Hecht assists clients with matters relating to electricity, natural gas, and the environment.  Since joining the firm, she has provided counsel regarding transmission issues, such as the interpretation of Large Generator Interconnection Agreements and the application of FERC’s Order 717 Standards of Conduct for transmission providers.  Marisa also advises clients on matters involving compliance with reliability standards enforced by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).

Professional Background

While attending law school, Marisa served as a staff member of the Administrative Law Review, writing her comment on the application of reliability standards promulgated by NERC.

As a legal intern at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service, Marisa focused on regulatory issues affecting rural electric cooperatives.  She also became familiarized with emerging energy concerns such as transmission obstacles facing her home state of North Dakota and other rural areas.

Marisa also served as a judicial intern in the chambers of the Honorable Gerald I. Fisher, where she confronted diverse legal issues such as the public duty doctrine, prescriptive easements, Consumer Protection Procedures Act, discovery, breach of contract, and bankruptcy.
