Transportation Practice

Bob Szabo is a member of the Washington, D.C. law firm, Van Ness Feldman, where he has been a member since 1978.  He represents Consumers United for Rail Equity (CURE), for whom he serves as Executive Director and Counsel.  In that capacity he is responsible for the execution of program for CURE, including providing legislative counsel, legal and advocacy services and management of the effort.

CURE is a coalition of America’s rail customers seeking changes in federal law to improve the reliability, effectiveness and affordability of the nation’s rail system.  The group represents public utilities, chemical companies, rural electric co-ops, investor-owned utilities, manufactures, and all their customers.  

Mr. Szabo has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University. He has a Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University Law School, where he served as Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review. Prior to entering private practice in Washington, DC, Bob served as a law clerk for the Louisiana Supreme Court, engaged in the private practice of law in Louisiana, and worked on the historic national energy legislation of the mid-1970s for Senator J. Bennett Johnston (D-LA).  Mr. Szabo is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and the State of Louisiana.
