Sean Cavote’s practice focuses on energy, with an emphasis on regulation, complex litigation, and project development.
Mr. Cavote represents electric utilities, liquefied natural gas (LNG) stakeholders, interstate pipelines, and other energy interests before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other regulatory agencies and judicial fora. He counsels domestic clients primarily on matters implicated by the Natural Gas Act, the Federal Power Act, the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, and the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
Professional Background
Prior to joining Van Ness Feldman, Mr. Cavote served as a law clerk to the Deputy General Counsel of the U.S. Air Force. He also served on the personal staff of U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell. Before entering government service, Mr. Cavote held several technical and managerial positions in the electric power generation industry, having acquired particular expertise in the commissioning and operation of utility and heavy industrial fossil-fired boilers and related plant equipment.
