John Buchovecky practices in the areas of energy and related infrastructure project investment and development in the US and internationally. He has assisted in structuring entry strategies for emerging markets, advising on regulatory structure and risk, negotiated all aspects of renewable and conventional energy project development agreements respecting conventional and renewable energy projects; including financing, site control, fuel supply, offtake, transmission and transportation, government implementation, emissions and other environmental credit agreements. His regulatory practice includes developing regulatory strategies, obtaining federal and state regulatory approvals, and representation in judicial and regulatory forums in matters involving federal and state energy laws affecting project development, financing, ownership and operation.

Current client representations include serving as general counsel to a public-private cooperative venture to develop a large scale zero emission integrated gasification combined cycle power plant with carbon sequestration, serving as regulatory and special counsel to a major west coast liquefied natural gas receiving terminal and integrated interstate pipeline, representing a large-scale biofuel and feedstock plantation in Latin America, advising foreign and domestic clients on emission credit project development and emission credit purchase and sale transactions, wetlands banking transactions, advising electric utility clients on regulatory and project structuring issues for merchant transmission projects, and negotiating wholesale and retail electric power and natural gas supply contracts.

Mr. Buchovecky is active in international matters including renewable energy projects, electric and natural gas, renewable energy investment, electric power generation project development and acquisition in emerging markets, and development and implementation of emerging market commercial and regulatory structures, with particular emphasis in Latin America.
