Emily Pitlick assists clients in regulated industries to understand and comply with their obligations under energy, environmental, and healthcare laws. Her work supports the regulatory needs of clients with regards to the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Federal Power Act (FPA), the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act (PSIA), and various state and local regulations, as well as healthcare and climate change legislation pending before Congress.
Professional Background
Prior to joining Van Ness Feldman, Ms. Pitlick gained first hand experience of the intersection between business and government regulation as an Honors Paralegal with the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition. At the FTC, Ms. Pitlick actively participated in one of the largest administrative trials in the agency’s history and worked directly with Commission lawyers on various proposed merger and acquisition investigations in the natural gas and pharmaceutical industries.
In law school, Ms. Pitlick served as Managing and Executive Editor of the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy. She also clerked for the Duke University Office of University Counsel, researching issues impacting education, employment, healthcare and privacy law. In addition to her J.D., Ms. Pitlick obtained a Certificate in Health Policy from Duke’s Sanford Institute of Public Policy.
