Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

May 5, 2010

The recent explosion on the BP oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, and the resulting oil spill, have captured the attention of the public, the energy industry, the Administration and lawmakers on Capitol Hill as the potential economic and environmental impacts intensify daily.  Beyond immediate clean-up actions, Federal policy responses are anticipated in the coming months. With Congressional hearings starting this week, executive agency legislative and regulatory responses developing, and energy/climate change legislation still in limbo, monitoring the changing dynamics and potential policy responses is essential, we believe.

A number of Van Ness Feldman’s clients and friends are affected, directly or indirectly, by this difficult situation.  For this reason, Van Ness Feldman has designated a team of professionals to monitor developments and will issue periodic policy alerts on this issue. The firm will continue to inform its clients and friends should developments justify such actions.  To receive e-mail alerts on the oil spill, e-mail vnf@vnf.com
