In April's American Gas magazine, Susan Olenchuk and Emily Pitlick speak on the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's (PHMSA) proposed regulations affecting the pipeline industry.   Ms. Olenchuk says, “the modifications to the proposed regulations should help ease industry’s concern about an overly broad or prescriptive approach as PHMSA implements its “Prevention through People” program that is designed to reduce safety risks that might be associated with human factors.”  

Ms. Pitlick adds, “the narrowed focus of the proposed regulations appear consistent with the goal of mitigating risk that control rooms may contribute to pipeline incidents.”
