Van Ness Feldman Ranked as a Top Emissions Trading Law Firm

February 9, 2007

An annual survey of nearly 900 companies by Environmental Finance has recognized Van Ness Feldman, P.C. as one of the world’s top law firms for emissions trading. The survey judges the best dealers, brokers, law firms, and service providers in the world’s main environmental greenhouse gas emissions markets.

Van Ness Feldman was named one of the top two law firms in two major categories:  “North American Greenhouse Gas Emissions Markets” and “ North America: All Emissions Markets.” The full survey results are available in the December 2006/January 2007 print issue of Environmental Finance.

Commenting on the recognition, Van Ness Feldman partner Kyle W. Danish, who leads the firm’s climate change and emissions trading practice, said, “This is welcome recognition for our firm’s emissions trading transactional team.  We have been active in the Kyoto markets for a number of years.  Now, the U.S. markets are growing very rapidly.  With our understanding of emerging U.S. climate policies, we will continue to help our clients identify and capitalize on market opportunities while the rules are still taking shape.”

Since the mid-1990s, Van Ness Feldman’s pioneering Global Climate Change practice has garnered a significant U.S. and international reputation by helping companies in every sector of the economy develop business strategies to manage their risks and opportunities from emerging U.S. state, federal, and international regulations and to engage in the policy debate on such regulations.

With offices in Washington, DC and Seattle, WA, Van Ness Feldman is an internationally recognized law firm specializing in energy, the environment, natural resources, and infrastructure security.  Founded in 1977, the firm now has more than 75 attorneys and public policy professionals, many of whom previously served in senior positions in the United States government.
