2013 Managing Marcellus Training Series

May 23, 2013

Local Government Academy

Stuart Hall - Harmony Museum Harmony, Pennsylvania

In order to extract Marcellus Shale gas and transport it to the market, companies must install new gathering and transmission lines throughout the region. Local government officials need to know what to expect as these pipelines are installed, as they are an aspect of the development that will operate within local communities the longest.

This upcoming program will explore topics relating to pipelines, including:

  • Understanding the pipeline system, the terminology and how various pieces interconnect in the gas distribution and transmission system
  • Easements, rights of way and eminent domain
  • The role of local government officials and the provisions outlined in Act 13 of 2012
  • Pipeline safety
