Nuclear Representative Matters 

Van Ness Feldman has provided strategic and regulatory counsel to clients dealing with a range of nuclear issues, including:

• Extensively advised an international law firm in its representation of the Department of Energy on matters relating to loan guarantees of projects subject to regulation by the NRC, including on matters of license compliance and statutory appeals processes.
• The firm provides an energy marketing affiliate of a multi-national financial entity with monitoring, analysis, and periodic reports, pertaining to any regulatory or legal activities affecting existing and new nuclear power plants in the United States.
• Advised an international law firm in its representation of prospective international investors in projects regulated by the NRC, including on matters of financial assurance; decommissioning funding; licensing; license transfer; and restrictions on foreign ownership.
• Helped the Bipartisan Policy Center develop and submit comments to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on an April 2013 “discussion draft” of nuclear waste legislation (later introduced as S.1240).
